SPF Is the #1 Anti-Aging Product
The Evidence
A landmark 2013 study (Annals of Internal Medicine) found that daily SPF users showed 24% less skin aging than occasional users over 4.5 years. UV radiation causes ~80% of visible facial aging.
UVA vs. UVB
- UVB: Causes sunburn, damages surface layers
- UVA: Penetrates deeper, destroys collagen and elastin (the real aging culprit)
You need broad-spectrum protection against both.
Choosing Your SPF
- Daily use (indoor): SPF 30, lightweight fluid
- Outdoor activity: SPF 50+, water-resistant
- Sensitive/rosacea skin: Mineral (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide)
- Oily skin: Gel or matte-finish chemical sunscreen
- Dark skin tones: Tinted mineral or chemical (avoids white cast)
Application Rules
- Apply 1/4 teaspoon for face and neck
- Reapply every 2 hours outdoors
- Apply BEFORE moisturizer if chemical SPF
- Apply AFTER moisturizer if mineral SPF
