Color Correcting 101: Concealer Shades for Skin Concerns

Color Correcting 101: Concealer Shades for Skin Concerns

The Color Wheel Principle

Opposite colors neutralize each other. Green cancels red. Peach cancels blue-purple. Lavender cancels yellow.

Dark Circles (Blue-Purple)

Corrector: Peach to orange. Light skin: peach (Bobbi Brown Bisque). Medium: salmon (LA Girl Orange). Deep: orange-red base. Apply under skin-tone concealer.

Redness and Acne Marks

Corrector: Green. Thin layer only on red areas. E.l.f. Green Correcting Stick ($3) works as well as luxury options. Pat, do not rub. Follow with skin-tone concealer.

Sallow Skin (Yellow Tones)

Corrector: Lavender. Sheer application on high points: forehead center, nose bridge, chin. Too much creates ashy cast.

Hyperpigmentation (Brown Spots)

Color correcting does not work well for brown spots. Use full-coverage concealer matching your skin exactly, applied with small brush, set with translucent powder.

Application Order

Skincare, primer, color corrector (thin layer, only where needed), foundation, skin-tone concealer, setting powder. Never apply corrector on top of foundation.
