Derma Roller Needle Size: Which One You Need
How Derma Rollers Work
Derma rollers create controlled micro-injuries that trigger the skin healing response — producing new collagen, elastin, and growth factors. This process, called collagen induction therapy, improves texture, scars, and product absorption.
Needle Sizes and Their Uses
0.25mm — Product Absorption
Does not reach the dermis. Creates temporary channels in the stratum corneum, boosting serum absorption by up to 5x. Safe for daily use. No numbing needed.
0.5mm — Mild Texture and Fine Lines
Reaches the upper dermis. Stimulates mild collagen production. Good for early anti-aging and mild acne marks. Use every 2 weeks. May cause slight redness for 1-2 hours.
1.0mm — Moderate Scars and Wrinkles
Reaches the mid-dermis. Significant collagen induction. Targets icepick scars, stretch marks, and deeper wrinkles. Use every 4 weeks. Numbing cream recommended.
1.5mm — Deep Scars and Stretch Marks
Professional-grade depth. Reaches the deep dermis. For severe acne scarring and surgical scars. Use every 6 weeks. Professional supervision recommended.
