Combination Skin: Balance Oily and Dry Zones
Understanding Combination Skin
Combination skin has an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) with normal-to-dry cheeks. This is not one skin type — it is two, and it requires a zone-specific approach.
Multi-Zone Strategy
Cleanser
Use a gentle gel cleanser that removes excess oil without stripping dry areas. Salicylic acid cleansers work well — they clean pores in the T-zone without over-drying cheeks.
Targeted Treatments
- T-zone: niacinamide 10% serum to regulate sebum
- Cheeks: hyaluronic acid serum for hydration
- Apply different products to different zones — it is necessary, not excessive
Moisturizer
Use a lightweight gel-cream overall, then add a drop of facial oil to dry cheek areas only. This prevents T-zone congestion while nourishing dry zones.
Weekly Additions
Clay mask on T-zone only (kaolin or bentonite). Hydrating sheet mask on cheeks. Multi-masking is the correct approach for combination skin.
