Color Correcting Concealer Guide: Find Your Perfect

The Science of Color Correcting

Color correcting uses the color wheel: opposite colors cancel each other out. Green neutralizes red, peach/salmon cancels blue/purple, lavender brightens yellow, and orange counteracts blue-gray.

For Dark Circles (Blue/Purple)

Light skin: use peach corrector. Medium skin: use salmon/orange corrector. Deep skin: use orange/red corrector. Apply only to the darkest areas, not the entire under-eye.

For Redness and Blemishes

All skin tones: use green corrector. Apply sparingly only to red areas. Too much green will make skin look ashy. Follow with a skin-tone concealer for a natural finish.

For Dullness and Sallow Skin

Lavender corrector brightens sallow, yellow-toned skin. Apply to the high points of your face — cheekbones, bridge of nose, and center of forehead. Blend well before foundation.

For Hyperpigmentation on Deep Skin

Orange or red corrector works best for dark spots on melanin-rich skin. Apply directly to dark spots, blend edges, then cover with a concealer that matches your skin tone exactly.

Application Order and Technique

Corrector first, then foundation, then concealer. Use thin layers and build gradually. Apply with a small brush for precision or fingertips for warmth and blendability. Set with a light dusting of translucent powder.

Product Recommendations

Cream correctors work better than liquid for most people. Look for formulas that don't crease or oxidize. A good corrector palette with multiple shades is more versatile than single-color products.
